Is it spring yet?

The weather here is miserable and we all are feeling it. We had a couple of no jacket days that turned to massive amounts of rain and flooding (the animal park in town is nearly flooded out). Now it is snowing but it's that nasty wet snow that just turns everything into a soggy mess. We did manage to get outside yesterday while sunny but cold and do some yardwork. Yes, I said yardwork....in Michigan....in the middle of January!

Let's see. I will get the adults done with so I can talk about the kids. Burch's work is so busy right now. But instead of complaining about it, he keeps talking about how great his team is. He could use another employee, but they are getting by the best they can. He had a good birthday (I think) and the kids sang "Happy Birthday" to him which made it a GREAT birthday.

I took my nursing program entrance exam and scored the highest possible score. This after, the night before, searching the college catalog for different majors since I was sure I was going to do so poorly. As long as everyone else didn't score as high as I did, I will for sure enter the program in May. That means 2 years of long hours, miserable schedules, the kids in daycare more often, and lots and lots of classes. I know the kids will be fine, I just hope I don't miss them too much.

Now the good stuff. Their language skills are improving so quickly, I can't beleive it. I was looking through video yesterday from just 2 months ago and the difference is incredible. They also say the wierdest things. I asked Lloyd today what he thought his nickname should be and he said Gumbo. Where that came from, I haven't the slightest.

They are starting to enjoy having friends. They ask me where they are and when they are coming over. They love going on playdates too. We still have an issue with sharing which is getting better. It really depends on the mood. Just tonight we were all sitting around one of their real low tables coloring and Lloyd went around to everyone and made sure we all had enough crayons and paper and coloring books. Then Lilly wanted to share her book with me. Lilly is very precise with her coloring (or anything else for that matter) and while she can't quite stay within the lines, she colors each piece individually. It is amazing to watch her in action. Lloyd prefers to tear out the pages and scribble all over them.
